Abstract
582,481. Sliding-clasp fasteners. LARSEN, R. Aug. 21, 1941, No. 10689. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1940. [Class 44] The slider 1 of a sliding-clasp fastener, of the kind in which the slider is locked against accidental movement by a curved spring 3 the end 4 of which is adapted to engage in the space between adjacent fastener members 5, has an operating tab 6 which normally lies flat against the upper plate of the slider and is provided with a cross-bar or bridge-piece 7 extending under the spring and of such width as substantially to fill the space under the fixed screen-member 2, measured longitudinally of the slider, so that the end 4 is withdrawn from engagement by tilting the tab as in Fig. 3. Either end of the tab may be lifted. The tab shown is of H-form, but an O-form is also referred to. Modifications are also described in one of which the side members of the tab are bent upwards and suitably shaped to provide an upstanding knob by which the cross-bar may be tilted, and in the other the tab is of U-form and removable when desired to leave the fastening locked.
