[Class 100 (i)] Sheets are fed to a rotary printing or like machine from a feed table by means of sets of grippers 11, 12, Fig. 5, or 53, 55, Fig. 9, each gripper finger of the sets being operated simultaneously to open and close the grippers. The grippers 11, 12, Figs. 5 and 8, are carried by arms 1 mounted on a shaft 2 which is oscillated by a cam 25 on the shaft 18 of the impression cylinder to which the sheets are fed. The opening and closing movements of the grippers is effected by means of triangular links 8, 9 connected to the grippers and to a pivot 10 secured between forked arms 51 mounted on a shaft 3 which is carried by the arms 1 and is oscillated to open and close the grippers by means of a roller 5 carried by an arm 4 fixed to the shaft 3 and projecting towards the left in Fig. 8, i.e. in a direction opposite to the motion of the upper part of the impression cylinder. The roller 5 moves over a stationary but adjustable curved cam surface 6 having a main portion concentric to the shaft 2 which corresponds to the closed position of the grippers, and an outer raised portion 7<1> which causes the grippers to open for delivering the sheet to the grippers of the impression cylinder. A second pivoted cam 6<1> is mounted on a pivot 15 and is operated by a cam 17 on the shaft 18 to raise the arms 5<1> as the arms 1 return towards the cylinder and thus keep the grippers open as they return to the feed board. The sheets are registered against a front lay 27, adjustable relatively to its operating shaft 15 by means of screws 30, 31, the shaft 15 being oscillated by a cam 34 and lever 36. To ensure correct register of the grippers 11, 12 with those of the impression cylinder, interengaging teeth are provided on the arms 1 and the cylinder. In a modification, Fig. 9, one gripper 53 of each set is pivoted at 54 in the oscillating arm 1, and the other gripper 55 is carried by a spring-controlled rod 57 which is normally moved to engage a camrecess 58 in the shaft 2. The arm 1 is oscillated by a cam 60, and lever 51 and link 50, and the shaft 2 by a cam 67, lever 64, and link 63. When the rod 57 is depressed to move the gripper 55 to open position, a pin 56 on the rod operates the other gripper 53 and moves it simultaneously about its pivot 54.
