434,478. Printing-machines. WAITE & SAVILLE, Ltd., Falcon Works, and WHYTE, F., 19, Queens Terrace, both in Otley, Yorkshire. Nov. 30, 1933, No. 33545. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] Feeding sheets; impression adjustments.- In an oscillating-gripper sheet-feeding device for the impression or transfer cylinder of a printing-press the adjustment of the impression or transferring cylinder 5 for dealing with sheets of different thicknesses is caused to effect a corresponding adjustment in the position of the feed gripper bar 2w which is carried by oscillating arms 3 on a shaft 4. The shaft B of the sheet transfer cylinder 5 is mounted in bearings 20 which are adjustable by screws 19 acting in conjunction with springs 21. The shaft 4 is carried at each end in eccentric bearings 10, which are rotated simultaneously or independently by mechanism operated by the screws 19 comprising a gear 18, segmental gears 16, link 15, lever 13a, 13d, and connecting-rod 12a secured to an arm on the bearing 10, the mechanism being duplicated on each side of the machine. The shaft 4 is oscillated by a cam 6, Fig. 4, on the shaft B and a lever 7, link 8, and rod 9, the cam 6 also operating the grippers 5w of the cylinder 5.
