450,166. Endless tracks for vehicles. TENNANT, W. J., 111, Hatton Garden, London.-(Tatra Works Ltd. Motor Car & Railway Carriage & Wagon Builders ; 200, Kartouzska, Smichov, Prague) Jan. 11, 1935, No. 1076. [Class 79 (i)] An endless track having metal links connected by rubber joints comprises (a) shoes or links 1 having an open box-like part 5 and lateral flanges 3, 4, (b) connecting links 9 having cylindrical or spherical ends 10 embedded in rubber blocks 11 adapted to fit in the part 5, and (c) retaining plates 2 which fit over the flanges 3, 4 and secure the blocks 11 in place, these plates 2 forming the tread members of the track. The rubber blocks 11 are encased in metal boxes 11<1> which fit the parts 5 of the links 1. Slots 7 are formed in end partitions 6 of the links 1 to allow the blocks 11 to be inserted in the links. The tread plates 2 have turned-over portions 12 and flanges 13 to prevent lateral movement, and are secured to the links 1 by screws at 15. The plates 1 are formed with cleats 16 and rubber treads 17 are secured to the plates by the screws 15 or otherwise. The part 5 of each link fits in a groove formed either in a single solid or pneumatic tyre of the carrying wheels or between double tyres. The rubber tyres of the wheels may be formed with projections or teeth to engage corresponding surfaces on the links 1.
