Abstract

263,352. Charley, W. G. March 9, 1926. Endless-track vehicles.-The track of an endless-track vehicle is constructed of pairs of inner and outer links, connected together by pins and tubular bushes and detachably mounted on the ground engaging sections, which are shaped to overlap at their meeting edges and have upturned sides. The pairs of inner links I, Fig. 6, have projections 1 on their inner sides fitted with tubular bushes 12 carrying rollers 13. The pairs of outer links O, 0<1> have projections 2 on their outer sides, one link O of each pair being provided with pins 14, adapted to be inserted into the bushes of the adjacent inner links and to receive on their projecting ends the other outer link O<1> of the pair. Each link has a lateral base 7 fitting a recess in the tread member 9 to which it is bolted, thus securing the parts of the track together. The tread members are laterally tapered so that contiguous ends 28 overlap and the side edges 26, Fig. 3, are upturned. An auxiliary composite link for connecting a pair of inner and a pair of outer links, has the links A, A<1>, Fig. 5, with oppositely arranged projections, a pin 23 being provided at one end and a, bush 18 at the other end.
