449,288. Joint - making packing. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., Luton, Bedfordshire.- (Assignees of Aktiebolaget Elektrolux ; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm) Oct. 9, 1935, No. 27896. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1934. [Class 122 (iii)] [See also Group XXVIII] The enclosed dust bag of a vacuum cleaner is provided with a packing element at its open edge coacting with a packing member mounted on or in the casing or its removable end cap by its axial displacement. The rubber packing collar 36, Fig. 2, of the dust bag abuts on a flange on a ring 16 secured to the casing. A screw suction connection 22 carries a flexible packing screen &c. 23 by a groove enabling relative rotation, the connection being turned to bring the screen into contact with the packing 36. The cap 20 is secured to the ring 16 by a bayonet joint. The connection and cap may be formed in one piece. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the rubber ring 36 coacts with a packing ring 35 pressed against it by a helical spring. A further modification embodies a rubber packing member pressed down by the cap against the ring 36.
