[Class 7 (iii)] A precombustion chamber b communicates with the engine cylinder a through a central transfer passage m, in a core piece g, which establishes a straight line communication between the fuel nozzle and the cylinder, and also through passages h which undergo a change of direction. The passages h may unite in an annular channel k and open into the cylinder through a passage l forming a continuation of the passage m or each passage h may open separately into the cylinder. The passages h may be parallel to the axis of the precombustion chamber or may converge towards the nozzle d, and the passage m may be widened towards the precombustion chamber or the engine cylinder.
