Abstract

A vertically movable pressure roller the axis of which is horizontally adjustable, is provided in connection with the, or each, perforated roller of a fabric steaming machine about which a wrapper passes as it is being <PICT:0447991/IV/1> wound on to the roller with the fabric, to consolidate and smooth squarely the fabric on the roller with very little tension on the wrapper. A board r is carried by each pressure roller in front of the nip of the roller and its steaming roller to prevent an operative's fingers from passing into the nip.
