Abstract
<PICT:0495526/IV/1> In dyeing and finishing machines, such as padding-machines or foulard machines, wherein the material, e.g. fabric, is passed between a driving or feed roll and a squeezing roll at or adjacent to the surface of liquid in a vat, the bearings for the roll are made separate from the vat which is movable relatively to the rolls so that access to the rolls and vat for cleaning is facilitated and soiling of the liquor in the vat by lubricant is avoided. The bearings for the feed roll 3 and press roll 7 may, as shown, be carried by a single bracket 6 supported by the machine framing, and the vat 1 may be movable vertically between guides 21, 22, from the position shown in full lines to that indicated by dotted lines. A reception roll 9 for the fabric may be carried on an arm pivoted at 10 to the machine frame.
