Abstract

446,803. Vehicle spring-suspensions. ALLEN, J. G., Southacre, Victoria Avenue, Quinton, Birmingham. Sept. 20, 1935, No. 26051. [Class 108 (ii)] In a perambulator or other vehicle the axle or axle end forms the pivot of a bell-crank lever one arm of which is pivoted to the vehicle and the other arm of which is acted upon by a spring and extends vertically upwards or downwards. The side chassis members A are interconnected by strips a<3> and by rods a<1> to which latter the longer arms c of bellcrank levers C are pivoted the other and shorter arm c<1>, disposed vertically, being connected to the chassis through a spring G. The centre portion of the bell-crank lever C carries a half axle E which, as shown, is bent backwardly so as to lie alongside the rod a<1>. The inner end of the half axle E is carried in bearings F which may swivel about a longitudinal axis. In a modification the axle E may extend straight across the chassis and its ends carried the bell-crank levers. The springs may be close coiled springs in tension or compression or laminated.
