[Class 79 (i)] In a vehicle having endless tracks comprising a plurality of metal shoes 4, each driving wheel 2 or idler wheel 3 is formed in halves having conical rims or walls 6 or 7 on which corresponding surfaces 5 of the shoes bear, the wheel halves being axially adjustable relatively to each other so as to vary the effective diameter of the wheels in order to tension the track or to increase the effective pitch of the driving wheel teeth to compensate for wear of the track. Fig. 2 shows one half of a driving wheel and Fig. 3 one half of an idler wheel. The wheel halves may be adjusted by means of shims 10. Driving teeth 8 on the wheel 2 engage wide holes 9 formed in the track shoes. The wheel halves may be coned externally instead of internally, as shown, the track shoes being then formed with internal inclined surfaces instead of the external surfaces 5.
