Abstract

Fluorinated paraffin wax for use as a dielectric material is obtained by treating chlorinated paraffin wax with antimony tri-fluoride, in presence of a catalyst, and in a solvent such as benzene. The liquid product is separated and purified. It has properties rendering it suitable for use as a dielectric and insulating material, and for fire-proofing. It may be mixed with other insulating liquids such as tri-chlorbenzene.
