Abstract

A magnesia cement mortar for application as by spraying to bitumen-protected metal articles comprises magnesia, magnesium chloride, sand, silex, small amounts of disodium phosphate and magnesium sulphate, and if desired pigments and a waterproofing material, e.g. aluminium stearate, the magnesium chloride and disodium phosphate being dissolved in the gauging water and the other ingredients mixed dry; or a dry mix of magnesia, aluminium stearate, silex, and sand may be gauged with a solution of magnesium sulphate and sodium citrate or citric acid.
