Abstract

A calcium sulphate plaster mix is prepared by incorporating in an unset plaster containing a pigment a proportion of a set plaster produced from a plaster containing the same pigment, the set plaster being less finely divided than the unset plaster. It is stated that the mix, when gauged with water, sets with a uniformly coloured surface and substantially without laitance. The unset plaster may have added thereto up to 60 per cent by weight of the set plaster, in examples 40 per cent is added. The particles of the set plaster may be of the dimensions 300-1200m and may be prepared, e.g. by grinding a set mass or by the method of granulating described in Specification 451,113. Either or both the unset and set plaster may be of the accelerated anhydrite type; accelerators referred to are potassium, zinc and aluminium sulphates.
