Abstract

Aggregates are prepared from calcium sulphate plaster, preferably of the accelerated anhydrite type, by treating the plaster, with or without colouring matter, with a limited amount of water and forming the partially set mass into granules by stirring. The water may be added in the form of a spray. Granules of striated appearance may be produced by separately gauging two or more coloured plasters, imperfectly mixing them and granulating. Onyx-like granules may be produced by rolling the granules in a drum with wet plaster of another colour. The aggregates may be used for the production of terrazzo effects on floors and walls preferably in conjunction with a matrix of plaster of the same essential composition and which may be of the same or a contrasting colour. The aggregates may also be used for rough cast or pebble dash work. Accelerators referred to are potassium, zinc and aluminium sulphates. Specification 451,112 is referred to.
