Abstract

298,607. Gamarra, C. Oct. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Porous compositions.-A porous plaster composition is made by mixing calcined gypsum containing carbonate with two reagents which react with each other to form a strong acid which reacts with the carbonate to liberate carbon dinxide gradually and to form insoluble compounds. Preferably the reagents comprise firstly a salt of an alkaline earth metal with a strong inorganic acid, and, secondly, a weak acid or acid salt such as acetic, tartaric oxalic or citric acid, aluminium sulphate or sodium bicarbonate. In an example 500 gms. of commercial calcined gypsum, 40 gms. of calcium chloride and 7.5 gms. of tartaric acid are mixed dry and then water, about 250 c.c., is added.
