Abstract
442,701. Thermally-actuated valves. BRITISH BRASS FITTINGS, Ltd., and SPERRYN, G. N., Moorsom Street, Birming- ham. March 15, 1935, No. 8017. [Class 135] A thermally-actuated valve of the kind described in Specification 359,144, comprises a body part a with a valve seat d formed therein and a separate casing 3 carrying the valve member e and the dial setting means k, a joint comprising a metal washer 9 and a compressible washer 8 being provided so that the casing 3 together with the valve l can be detached for inspection and cleaning and re-assembled without disturbing the setting of the valve. The valve member l is screwed onto a member n which is secured to the setting spindle j by a universal connection comprising the ball-end p and cross-pins q engaging in the hollow and slotted end of the spindle behind a flanged ring 6. The valve member l is prevented from rotating by a guide pin 7 and is axially adjusted by rotation of the dial k which is attached to spindle j. The crosspins q in the slotted end of spindle j allow thermal actuation of the valve l by the non- expansible rod f inside a thermal tube e, the end t of the rod f engaging in a recess s in the end of member n.
