Abstract

441,155. Crank shafts. DAIMLER CO., Ltd., and POMEROY, L. H., Daimler Works, Coventry. Oct. 30, 1934, No. 31061. [Class 80 (ii)] In order to reduce torsional vibrations in shafts having webs 1 extended to form balance weights and shaped to fit inside a floating inertia ring 6, a transversely -slidable wedge 8 is pressed against the inner face of the ring by a spring 9 which acts also to press the arcuate surfaces 5, 3a, of the web against the ring. The wedge is slidably keyed in a cavity 7 in the web 1 and the tension of the spring is adjustable by means of a screwed pin 12. The ring is in two parts 6, 6a, screwed together to engage a rib 15 on the periphery of the web.
