[Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVI] A shock - absorber comprises main and auxiliary pistons 1, 8, carrying flexible skirt packings 4, 8a respectively, between which is a liquid 9, whereby the pressure in the cylinder 11 is transmitted by the piston 8 to the liquid 9 to expand the packings. The piston 8 may be mounted on an extension 1a of piston 1, Fig. 1, or may be entirely independent thereof Fig. 2. Specifications 407,516 and 460,089 are referred to.
