Vibration-dampers. - In apparatus in which a drum b on one movable element a is engaged by an expanding band h anchored by the pin j on the other movable element c, the friction between the two may be modified by pressure applied in a tangential direction to the free end as by a lever k. One end of the lever engages the end of the band h, an intermediate part engages the part of the band which encircles the pin j, and the other end engages an adjustable eccentric l on the centre pin of the apparatus. In a modification, the end of the lever k encircles the eccentric and an adjustable screw carried by the lever engages the pin i directly, the band being cut away at this point. The eccentric may be adjusted and locked from the outside by a pointer, the end of which engages slots or recesses in a plate.
