Abstract

195,364. Coullery, H. March 21, 1922, [Convention date]. Linear-dimension gauges.-The surfaces e, e<1> on a steel plate a slit from b to c are used as the feeling surfaces of callipers. The edges of the slit are inclined at f, g to take a wedge h, and the limb d may be forced away from the plate by adjusting a screw i, the maximum movement being small so that the parts spring back when the screw is loosened. For greater widths the plate is slit near both feeling edges, each slit being provided with a wedge and screw, and a wooden &c. handle is fitted to prevent errors due to temperature changes. Outside callipers connect each of a U-shaped plate with the slits near the inside edges.
