441,144. Smallarms. SOC. ITALIANA E. BREDA PER COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE, 9, Via Bordini, Milan, Italy. July 16, 1934, No. 20796. Convention date, July 14, 1933. Addition to 347,883. [Class 119] Relates to smallarms adapted to discharge bombs or grenades from a lateral barrel into which the gases from the main barrel are deflected, the main barrel being adjustable to control the amount of gas deflected according to the range desired, as described in the parent Specification. According to the invention, an auxiliary barrel 1 forming an extension of the main barrel 4 is attached to the bomb-discharging barrel 6, which is attached to the main barrel, for example, detachably by means of a screwthreaded fitting 2, and the auxiliary barrel is adjustable longitudinally to control the byepass 5 to the bomb-discharging barrel 6. The auxiliary barrel is adjusted screw-wise by means of a spring-controlled milled sleeve 9 acting as a handle and locking catch, and the adjustment. is indicated by a scale through a window at 11. The stock may be provided with a shoulder pad as described in Specification 441,184. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also (1) the bomb-discharging muzzle arrangement now described in Specification 440,018, (2) a spring-controlled piston 15, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in the base of the bombdischarging barrel, and (3) a sighting device comprising a collimator tube 12, Fig. 1, fixed to the weapon at an angle of 45‹, and having a centre ball at its front end and a pendulumcontrolled ring behind. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
