Abstract

559,707. Sights for aircraft guns. BOWRING, H. P. Aug. 27, 1942, No. 11763/41. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to mirror sights for enabling the pilot of a fighter aircraft to aim a rearwardly pointing gun as described in Specification 541,887. According to the present invention, the mirror E is mounted in an inclined position at the rear open end of a cylindrical tube D the front of which is closed. The back sight F is in the form of a small ring mounted on a rod H adapted to slide in a tube J. The foresight is a light metal frame having cross wires B and range finding and aiming rings C concentric with the point of intersection of the cross wires. An electric heating filament L prevents frosting of the mirror at high altitudes.
