440,122. Pipe joints; concrete pipes. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Lock Joint Pipe Co. ; 150, Rutledge Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.) July 20, 1934, No. 21347. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] A rubber gasket 25 is located in a groove in a spigot and projects therefrom, so that, when the spigot enters the socket in which it fits closely, the gasket is deformed to fill the groove. The groove may be formed by rings 12, 26 welded to the tubular metal reinforcement 14 of a concrete pipe. The socket member 13 is welded to the tube 14 and is flared at 27 so as to compress the gasket gradually.
