Abstract

443,375. Pipe joints. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (Champion Machine & Forging Co. ; 3695, East 78 Street, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.) Aug. 27, 1934, No. 24657. [Class 99 (i)] The pipes are joined by a two-part sleeve 10 having recesses 16 each containing a pair of semicircular spring members 19, Fig. 3, which have teeth 20 to grip the pipes and external projections 22 which contact with the bottom of the recesses. The recess walls are inclined at 18 so that if the pipes move apart the grip of the members 19 is tightened. A self-sealing gasket 14 contacts with the pipes only at beads 15<b>, 15<c>.
