Abstract

439,429. Liquid-meters. QUACK, E. A., 9, Billiter Square, London. June 6, 1934, No. 16842. [Class 69 (ii)] In a meter comprising a floating piston 1, Fig. 1, operating the distributing valve 3 through trip mechanism, the piston stroke is adjusted to compensate for temperature variations by adjusting the initial relative positions of cams 24 and rollers 22 included in the trip mechanism. Each roller 22 is carried by a lever 20, one having a pin 54 eccentrically mounted in a journal 55 which can be turned by connection with a hand-wheel 59, Fig. 4, having a pointer associated with a temperature scale 60. At the ends of the piston stroke, an adjustable stud 5 acts through a spindle 6 to move a lever 20 and compress a spring 33 until the roller 22 has acted through the cam 24 to free a stop 51 from a stop 50 carried by levers 38. The spring then expands and the levers 38 move to actuate the valve through an adjustable member 48.
