Abstract

438,666. Straight-tube heat-exchangers. MORTON & CO., Ltd., R., and ROBINSON, P. D., Trent Works, Burton-on-Trent. May 29, 1934, No. 15949. [Class 64 (iii)] In apparatus of the kind described in Specification 339,869, [Class 64 (iii)], the tubes 11 are secured at one end in a fixed tube-plate and at the other in a slidable plate 14 having a ridge 28 engaging with a packing groove formed in a spring-pressed cap 25 having passages 24 by which the tubes are connected in series. The cap is hinged on a pin 26 supported in elongated holes in lugs 27 on the tube casing, and the spring is disposed between the cap and a bridge-piece 31 carried by eyebolts 37 one of which is mounted on the pin 25 while the other is mounted on a pin 32 supported in elongated holes in lugs 34.
