Abstract

521,129. Heat - exchangers. WELLINGTON TUBE WORKS, Ltd., and ADAMS, E. F. Nov. 9, 1938, No. 32462. [Class 64 (iii)] In heat exchange apparatus with finned tubes 1 or other members having heating surfaces, the tubes are fixed at both ends to an outer casing through springs or resilient members 12, the pressure on which is lessened when the tubes expand. The springs 12 are held in compression on bolts 7 against plates 6 welded to the ends of the tubes, and the bolts 7 are held by nuts 10 in castings 3 forming shallow box-like ends of the casing, which has sheet metal walls 5.
