Abstract

430,015. Straight-tube heat-exchangers. GUY, H. L., Thornhill, Hale Road, Hale, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Dec. 6, 1933, No. 34364. [Class 64 (iii)] Heat-exchange tubes, e.g. for oil coolers, condensers, radiators, &c., are provided with helical baffles formed by a coil 2 closely wound upon a wire 4 which is itself wound upon, and secured by soldering to, a central rod 3. The coil may be formed with flat sides and ends. In the case of a tube having an internal diameter of seven-eighths of an inch, the coil may be of No. 18 or 20 S.W.G. copper wire, and the pitch of the baffle about two inches. Specification 417,668 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 425,376.
