Abstract
438,595. Photographic developing processes. GROVES, W. W., 30, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges. ; Frankfort-on-Main, Germany) March 19, 1934, No. 8574. [Class 98 (ii)] A whitish silver picture is produced by developing an exposed gelatine silver halide layer with a developer containing a derivative of an organic base which dissolves silver, or an inorganic salt of the same effect either alone in a concentration of more than 1 per cent calculated on the weight of the prepared developing solution or in admixture with the aforesaid derivative of an organic base, the concentration of the mixture amounting to more than 1 per cent. Derivatives of organic bases specified are guanidine thiocyanate, xanthates, and the ammonium or amine salt of dithiocarbamic acid. Inorganic salts specified are potassium thiocyanate, potassium xanthate and ammonium chloride. Hardening agents such as sodium sulphate, formaldehyde, alum, or chrome alum may be added to the developer.
