[Class 39 (i)] The invention relates to Braun tubes with light intensity control, in which the electrodes are supported from two parallel glass holding rods 6 sealed to the pinch 7 in a manner already known in itself. To avoid distortion of the electrode structure by stresses introduced in sealing metal supporting wires to the holding rods, the wires are, according to the invention, replaced by short glass rods sealed to the electrodes. The short glass rods may be sealed to short rods of a metal which seals easily to glass, which are in turn welded to the electrodes. A glass of low melting point such as lead glass is preferably employed. The electrodes are assembled in exact axial alignment by means of a centring gauge provided with easily removable distance pieces which engage the various electrodes. To test the accuracy of the alignment when the gauge has been removed, the electrode assembly is, in a known way, mounted in a frame which is rotated, so that any eccentricity may be detected visually.
