Abstract
437,922. Typewriters. HABERFELD, E. O., 46, Sedanstrasse, Weissensee, Berlin. Feb. 22, 1935, No. 5706. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1934. [Class 100 (iv)] Sheet feeding and guiding arrangements.-For independently front-feeding two sheets by means of apparatus comprising feedrollers, the first sheet, after being fed to the required line-position, is held on the platen by means arranged below the feed-rollers, the upper part of the sheet is rolled backwards by means of the feed-rollers and held on the platen by pressurerollers, and the second sheet is subsequently fed to the required line-position by means of the feed-rollers. The apparatus shown in Figs. 2 and 3 comprises a pivoted frame e mounted in front of the platen b and provided with a guideshoot i, feed-rollers g, h and a pressure roller f. The platen is associated with a pressure roller n mounted on a bail n<1> which is supported by pivoted arms o and is provided with pins p co-operating with cam-slots q. An over-centre spring for holding the pressure roller in released or engaged position may be connected to the bail. The first sheet s is fed on to the platen by means of the feed-rollers, the frame e is moved backwards to cause the roller f to hold the sheet, and the top part of the sheet is rolled backwards by means of the feed-rollers and is held on the platen by depressing the roller n. The frame e is then moved forwards, and the second sheet is fed by means of the feed-rollers. The feed-rollers may be mounted on a stationary support, the frame e being omitted. Feed-roller rotation for blanking.-The feedrollers g, h can be turned by means of a knob g<1>, or by means of a plunger-rack k<1> co-operating with a pinion g<11> on the shaft of the roller g. The feed-rollers are separated, to permit of idle retraction of the rack, by depressing a plunger l provided at the bottom with a wedge.
