Sheet feeding and guiding arrangements. -A device for facilitating the superposition of an invoice 29 or the like on a day-book or like sheet 45 which remains on the platen 11 during the typing of a number of invoices and receives a carbon copy of the entries thereon, consists of a guide-strip 15 arranged parallel to and at the front of the platen, and adapted to be depressed from its normal position above the path of the types into the operative position shown in Fig. 3. In the preferred arrangement, the guide-strip is trunnioned on a frame 19, 20 which is mounted on the supporting rod 21 for the paper-fingers 22, 23 and can be depressed in opposition to a spring by means of a handle 32. The paper-fingers are further apart than the width of the invoice and the wings 24 rest in gaps on the apron 28. The guide-strip is maintained by a spring 25 in contact with the wings 24 and when depressed abuts on the edge of the apron 28. On depressing the frame, linkage connected thereto releases the bottom feed-rollers 39, 40 and the invoice can then be passed from the front over the guide-strip and along the apron 28 and shelf 30, the day-book sheet being held by the paper-fingers. When the handle 32 is released, the frame and guide strip rise and the feed-rollers are restored. The guide-strip is furnished with an adjustable sidegauge 48 for the invoice; the gauge is preferably mounted on the top bar 16 of the guide-strip and is secured by a screw 49. Line-spacing mechanism. - When the guidestrip 15 is depressed, the day-book or like sheet 45 is automatically line-spaced by means of a rocking arm 42, Fig. 1, which engages a pin 43 on the line-spacing slide 44 and is in the path of a roller 41 on the rocking frame 19, 20 supporting the guide-strip.
