Abstract
464,339. Typewriters &c. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Oct. 15, 1935, No. 28458. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1934. [Class 100 (iv)] Sheet feeding and guiding arrangements.- A calculating or like machine having a carriage supporting a platen which can be rocked to provide a front-feed throat is provided with-resilient straps for holding a front-fed card or sheet, the free ends of the straps being connected by a rod or other means for holding the straps in released position when the platen is in open-throat position. The arrangement shown in openthroat position in the Figure comprises a rocking front-feed guide 22, and a rocking frame supporting a platen 14 and rear and front feed paper-tables 13, 40. The platen is now associated with resilient straps 19 which are secured to the table 13 and are connected at the front by a rod 20. The straps hold a front-fed ledger-card and a rear-fed journal-sheet 11 in engagement with the platen. When the platen is moved into open-throat position, and the rod 20 is engaged with notches 21 in the guide 22, a ledgercard can be inserted or removed from the front, the journal-sheet being retained by means of rollers 15. A statement sheet 25 can be front-fed over the guide. 22 and table 40 when the platen is in open-throat position.
