Abstract
445,585. Typewriters &c. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO., Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. Oct. 13, 1934, No. 29328. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1933. [Class 100 (iv)] Sheet-guiding arrangement.-A front sheet-guide for use with a platen that can be rocked out of normal position to facilitate insertion of the sheet is spring-held in substantially vertical position regardless of the position of the platen, and can be displaced to receive the sheet only when the platen is out of normal position. The guide 22 shown in the Figure consists of a metal frame containing a celluloid sheet having marked thereon a horizontal line for indicating the position of the sheet. The guide is pivoted to arms 16 which can rock on the platen-shaft 12 and have rollers 17 engaging inclined slots 18 in brackets 20 on the carriage 19. The guide is held in contact with stops 26 on the carriage by means of springs 25, and when the platen is in normal position, stops 27 on the arms 16 engage the front of the guide. When the platen is rocked into the position shown, the stops 27. are removed, and the guide can be drawn forwards to permit of front insertion of a sheet 24.
