Abstract

358,915. Typewriters. KLETT, F. W., 11, Hammerrodchen, Mehlis, Zella, Thuringia, Germany. July 14, 1930, No. 21250. [Class 100(iv).] Sheet-feeding arrangements.-In an apparatus for feeding sheets, envelopes, &c., to the platen of a typewriter or like machine, a stack of sheets stands on an inclined plate and is pressed against a feed-roller by means of a vertical plate which is pivoted to a spring- pressed pivoted bracket. The apparatus shown in the Figure comprises a frame x supported by rails o and connected by straps p to the carriage r. The frame supports feed-rollers c, e, the roller c being geared to the roller e and being connected by a flexible shaft s to the platen b. The stack of sheets t stands on an inclined plate d and is pressed against the feed-roller c by means of a plate a which rests on the plate d and is pivotally connected to a bracket k pivoted on the plate d. A notched plate co-operating with a catch is employed for adjusting coiled springs engaging the bracket. The plate a may carry a vertically adjustable plate f which has a bend g at the bottom, and is set in a high or low position for thick or thin sheets respectively. The sheets are fed in overlapping relation by the feed-rollers, and pass on to the platen. On delivery, the sheets are prevented from wrapping around the platen by means of a plate i which rests on the platen and can move in guides on the plate d when the platen is shifted.
