[Class 78 (iv)] [See also Group XXXI] A lifting-appliance, either mounted on a wheeled truck or on the ground, is actuated by a vacuum motor energized from the vacuumbrake system of a locomotive. In the form shown, a crane is carried on a wheeled truck. A system of pipes 2, 4, 5 and 10 leading to the air-exhaust branch of the vacuum engine is coupled at 3 to the brake system of the locomotive (not shown). The pipe 5 conveniently is coaxial with the swivelling-pin 6 of the crane. Specification 413,477 is referred to.
