Abstract

413,477. Railway turntables. COWANS, SHELDON, & CO., Ltd., and KINDER, W. C., St. Nicholas Works, Carlisle. May 25, 1933, No. 15102. [Class 104 (ii).] Driving-gear for a turntable comprises a vacuum motor deriving its power from the vacuum brake system of the locomotive, and a gear train 5-9 connecting the motor to a gear wheel 10 on one of the turntable wheels 3. A shaft 12 in the gear train carries a manually controlled forward and reverse clutch gear, and may receive a hand crank on its ends for manually operating the turntable. The motor may be a twin oscillating cylinder engine.
