Abstract
437,427. Desk &c. tops. BEXON, M., c/o J. C. Lane & Co., Abercrombie Avenue, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. May 4, 1935, No. 13317. [Class 52 (iii)] A table, desk, drafting-frame, or like article of furniture is made with a top in two portions 2, 3, the part 2 being adjustable vertically, and remaining horizontal always, while the part 3 has an inclination variable by means of an actuating-rod 7 with a handle 7b, which is rotated in bearings 7<a> in the framing 1, so that links 8, 9 lift the section 2. The toggle-like link 8, 9 are connected by a pivot 10, and the link 9 is connected by a pivot 10<a> to the bracket 6 under the section 2. These brackets 6 have slots 12 through which passes the rod 7, so that as the crank 7b is rotated the brackets 6 move upon the rod 7. The section 3 is pivoted at the front end 5, but may be fitted so as to slide there, in which case the slots 12 may be vertical instead of slightly inclined as shown. A book supporting ledge or ledges may be fitted at the front end of the slope 3, and the section 2 may have grooves &c. for pencils &c.
