Abstract

436,666. Collecting rainwater. PEARCE, H. P., and KING, W. H., 74, Aldermanbury, London. Dec. 20, 1934, No. 654. [Class 68 (i)] Means for collecting rainwater comprises a box 1 of square section fitted in the stack pipe and provided with an opening 2 normally closed by a flap 3 loosely pivoted at 5 so that a hook 7 may be engaged by a recess in the flap. On releasing the flap from the hook, it falls by gravity to divert water outwards from the stack pipe. Shields 11 guide the discharged water. A partition 12 limits tilting of the flap ; alternatively, or in addition, the shields 11 are shaped to limit the tilting. The flap may be controlled from inside a building through a cable or linkage or the box 1 may be arranged within a building or built into the wall thereof to discharge internally.
