Ashes, discharging.-In an arrangement for discharging ashes from ships' stokeholds, the bucket d conveying ashes from the stokehold a by way of the ventilating tube b discharges its load through an opening g into a chamber f built round the tube b. From this chamber the ashes may either be directed outboard by way of the discharge tube e or by placing a cover k over the flared mouth of the discharge tube and opening the chamber door m, the ashes may be discharged into a wheelbarrow m.
