Abstract

1,106,585. Roof ventilators. WESTERN ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO. 8 Sept., 1966 [24 Jan., 1966], No. 40118/66. Heading F4V. A ventilator having a manually operated pivoted flap 58 comprises vertical separator sheets 12, upper and lower sheet members 14, 18, horizontal members 16 between the separators 12 and transverse baffles 20. The ventilator may be of thin gauge metal which has been painted or protected against corrosion. Grooves 40, 50, 56 act as rain gutters and the separators 12 are longer than members 14, 16, 18, so that rain is directed from the gutters to the outside of the ventilator. A band 24 surrounds the out. side of the ventilator. The flaps 58 pivoted on rods 76 and held closed by a spring 108 are opened by pulling a cord 104 connected to a linkage 98, 94, 96 connected to a bracket 102 on each flap. A screen to exclude insects and debris can be slid into grooves 44 on the edges of the members 14.
