Abstract

436,030. Cylinders. WOLSELEY MOTORS, Ltd., (formerly WOLSELEY MOTORS (1927), Ltd.), and BODEN, O., Drews Lane, Ward End, Birmingham. July 20, 1934, No. 21229. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In an overhead valve engine, admis. sion passages 4 extend completely across the cylinder head and are con. nected together and to the carburetter by external manifolds 8 the passages 4, which are preferably arranged in pairs, have depending branches 2 leading to the valve ports. Exhaust pass ages 12, which com municate with ex ternal manifolds 14 may be similarly arranged. The admission and exhaust passages and manifolds have common walls as shown to facilitate the heating of the charge and the water jacket has pockets 6 arranged between each pair of passages 4. The carburetter is attached to a flange 11, but further carburetter flanges may be provided on either or both sides of the engine.
