Abstract

249,224. Marks, E. C. R., (Ingersoll-Rand Co.). Dec. 22, 1924. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel; heating charge.-In a multicylinder engine, each cylinder cover is cast separately, and furnished with exhaust and inlet passages so arranged that when the cylinder heads are bolted together continuous exhaust and inlet passages extending the whole length of the block of cylinders are provided within the cylinder heads. The cylinder heads are water jacketted, a jacket space associated with the remainder of the cooling system being provided all round the induction passage d. The combustion chambers P, which are of the type described in Specification 121,470, [Class 7 (vi), Internal-combustion engines, Valves &c. for], are separated from the cylinders by a restriction 0, and supplied with liquid fuel through injectors J by a pump which is constructed as described in Specification 244,274, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.], which is common to all the cylinders, the fuel being distributed to the various cylinders by a device as described in Specification 244,273, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.].
