Abstract

Cylinders, pipes and passages of.-In a multicylinder sleeve-valve engine, an induction chamber 19, common to several cylinders, has passages 23, 24, 25, 28 proportional in cross-sectional area to the port-area which they supply. The passages 25 are formed by baffles 22 extending either from a cylinder wall, as shown, or from the top and bottom of the chamber 19, a passage adjacent each cylinder being formed in the latter case. Manifolds 20, for each half of the cylinder-block are connected to a common inlet pipe.
