Cylinders, ports and passages of, and cooling. - In a sleeve-valve engine, the cylinders are provided with inlet ports 12 communicating with chambers 14, and with exhaust ports 13 communicating with passages 17 leading to chambers 20, 21, which are separated by a partition 19 and provided with outlets 22, 23 united in a common exhaust pipe 24. The passages 17 are bounded by cooling-chambers 28, which are shaped to direct the exhaust gases towards the outlets 22, 23. A partition 16 separates the inlet and exhaust chambers.
