Abstract
436,010. Automatic circuit-breakers. ELLISON, Ltd., G., and ANDERSON, J., Wellhead Lane Works, Perry Barr, Birmingham. April 9, 1934, No. 10630. [Class 38 (v)] A thermally released circuit-breaker compensated for variations of external temperature comprises a switch arm e pivoted at b and pressed upwards by a spring d and held in the closed position shown by a notch j in an arm g adjustably connected by screws k to an arm h, the arms g, h pivoting about a point i and the arm h being fixed at o to a bimetallic strip n connected by a link s to a bimetallic strip p fixed at the lower end and heated by a current-carrying coil t. Variations of external temperature cause equal bending of the strips n, p and no movement of the arms h, g. Sufficient heating of the strip p by the coil t causes the arms h, g to move to the right, releasing the switch arm e which thereupon moves to the open position. Resetting is effected by a plunger u. The bimetallic members p, n in the form shown each comprise a pair of strips.
