Abstract
435,963. Meta.1 - vapour rectifiers. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Nov. 20, 1934, No. 33404. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] In a rectifier having a metal vessel, the anodes are mounted within insulating jar-like bodies 3, Fig. 1, which are welded or soldered to the vessel, e.g. through flanges 8 to the cover 2, and are so arranged that their closed ends are located externally of the vessel and their open ends project into the interior thereof. Grids 5 are supported by connecting members which pass through, and are fused to, the bodies 3. An insulating cathode pot 6 is welded or soldered through a flange 7 to the vessel and exciting anodes 11 are provided. In another form, the bodies pass through sides of the vessel, the cover of which is provided with cooling guides. In a further form, the vessel is formed of two bowl-shaped portions 15, 16, Fig. 3, which are screwed together and are formed with semicircular flanges 20 to which the bodies 18 are welded or soldered. Air from a fan is guided by members, e.g. the member 22, Fig. 1, over the aluminium vessel which may be provided with cooling gills or thickenings.
