[Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XXXVI] A safety-cut-out for an electrical appliance, which may be mounted in the plug for the appliance, comprises a spring contact 8 which tends by its resiliency to move away from a cooperating contact 9 but is normally prevented from so doing by a pin 10 which is pressed upwards by a plate 11 soldered to a cup 14 fixed to the plug by a screw 16. On overheating the solder melts and the plate 11 drops downwards. The pin 10 is prevented from falling completely out of its hole by its enlarged head. To reset the cut-out, a new unit, consisting of a plate 11 soldered to a cup 14 is inserted.
