Infusing-machines.-In an electrically-heated tea or coffee making machine of the type in which the water on boiling is driven out of the boiler, 'which then rises, switching off the current, the member controlling the switch moves out of the path of the boiler when this rises, so that the current is not switched on again when the boiler falls. The boiler a and infusing-vessel d are mounted on opposite ends of a lever b. The current passes through springs f, f<1> enclosed in a box i, Fig. 2. Between the springs f, f' is an insulating spring plunger m with a metal collar m<1> which completes the circuit when the plunger is pushed in. When the boiler a is down the plunger m is held in by a lever l pressing against the boiler, but on the boiler rising the lever l moves into the position shown by the dotted lines, thus releasing the plunger m and interrupting the current, which is not re-established when the boiler falls. The water is forced into the vessel d through a siphon-pipe g when the water boils, and the infusion is drawn back again when the boiler a cools, and is drawn off by a cock s<1>. In a modification, the lever l is arranged within the box i - and may make contact with one of the springs f, f<1>, the other spring and the plunger m being dispensed with, or the boiler a may bear directly on the plunger m, the box i being pivoted so as to fall to one side when the boiler rises.
